No new orders Friday; Court opens Monday with Suncor climate liability and veterans case
Graphic: World Brief Now

The Supreme Court issued no new miscellaneous orders Friday as the 2026-27 term prepares to open Monday, when the justices will hear argument in Suncor Energy Inc. v. County Commissioners of Boulder County on whether state climate-liability suits against energy companies may proceed and in Johnson v. United States Congress on district-court review of a veterans’ disability-benefits limit, SCOTUSblog reported. Justice Samuel Alito remains recused from Suncor, raising the possibility of a 4-4 tie. Thursday’s grants—including Missionaries of St. John, Inc. v. Frederic on religious land-use standards—still stand with no argument date set for the Kentucky grotto dispute.
