OpenAI fires three safety researchers over alleged data sharing with advocacy group
Graphic: World Brief Now

OpenAI fired safety researchers Jasmine Wang, Tomek Korbak, and Mikita Balesni for misconduct that included allegedly sending confidential company information to an unnamed AI safety group, the Washington Examiner reported Friday, citing the Wall Street Journal. An OpenAI spokesperson said the company “parted ways with three individuals for violating our policies on accessing and handling sensitive company information” after an investigation. The firings come as industry leaders, including OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, signed a White House-backed self-policing memorandum on internal controls, monitoring, and external audits after concerns about rogue AI agents.
