Supreme Court: Trump administration asks justices to limit courts' power to erase federal rules for everyone; orders due Monday

The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to decide whether and when a federal court can throw out an agency's action or rule in its entirety, SCOTUSblog reported, in a case over rules implementing the No Surprises Act, a 2022 law meant to protect patients from surprise medical bills. Citing the Court's 2025 Trump v. CASA ruling against universal injunctions, the government argued that under the 5th Circuit's decision, 'at the behest of a handful of plaintiffs, those regulations are erased from the books as to everyone'; the challengers' response is due Nov. 13. There was no new Court action over the weekend, and orders from Friday's private conference are expected Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET, SCOTUSblog reported.
