Trump announces Russia-Ukraine "energy ceasefire"; Zelenskyy says Kyiv will comply if Moscow does, as a Kharkiv power plant is hit

President Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday, "Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!" but offered no details, and Moscow did not immediately comment, AP reported. Zelenskyy said Ukraine was "ready to refrain from striking Russian energy infrastructure" if Russia did the same, but said a power plant in Kharkiv was attacked Sunday evening, which his office confirmed came after Trump's post; Trump made a similar claim on Sept. 14 that came to nothing. Separately, six senators, four Republicans and two Democrats, demanded Trump "immediately reverse course" on his Russian diesel deal, saying it runs counter to a 2022 law barring Russian oil imports.
