The Department of Homeland Security told the New York Post that municipalities across New York have refused its requests to hold suspected illegal migrants 16,070 times since President Trump returned to office, cases tied to 52,503 criminal charges or convictions, including 131 homicides, 132 kidnappings and 1,017 sexual offenses. "Illegal aliens have no sanctuary in America," DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said. A spokeswoman for Gov. Kathy Hochul said the state always notifies federal immigration enforcement of any non-citizen serving a state prison sentence and called the claim "a blatant mischaracterization of the facts."
