Trump administration asks Court to pause order blocking BOP transgender-care ban
Solicitor General D. John Sauer on Monday asked the Supreme Court to block a Washington, D.C., district court order that bars the Federal Bureau of Prisons from enforcing its February 2026 policy ending gender-transition surgeries, hormone therapy and related “social accommodations” for transgender inmates, SCOTUSblog reported. Senior Judge Royce Lamberth issued the order Aug. 26; a divided D.C. Circuit panel refused to pause it. Sauer argued the district court substituted its judgment for prison administrators’ and that leaving the order in place permanently harms the government’s ability to run federal prisons. The Court set a response deadline of 4 p.m. EDT Thursday, Oct. 8, in Trump v. Kingdom, No. 26A416.
