Trump says White House still ‘very seriously’ considering U.S. diesel export ban
President Donald Trump told a Fox News reporter on Sunday that the White House is still “thinking about it very seriously” regarding a diesel export ban as U.S. fuel prices soar ahead of the November midterms, CNBC reported Monday. “That can oftentimes lead to a little bit of an increase on gasoline for cars, so we’re looking at it very seriously. We may do it,” Trump said while attending the Presidents Cup in Illinois. Average U.S. diesel prices hovered around $6.50 a gallon on Friday, according to AAA, just below a record $6.53 on Sept. 22; Energy Secretary Chris Wright has favored restrictions over an outright ban, and the American Petroleum Institute has warned that export limits could hurt supply and consumers.
