Update: Some French synagogues canceled Sabbath prayers and told Jews to hide kippahs as riots spread
Graphic: World Brief Now

Some French synagogues canceled Saturday afternoon prayers and advised members not to wear kippahs openly or linger outside services as the Oct. 17 protests turned violent, French Jewish community member Samuel Arrouas told Fox News Digital. Shannon Seban of the Combat Antisemitism Movement said her group documented 1,384 antisemitic posts in two days, including conspiracy theories blaming Jews and Israel for the unrest, while France's Jewish security organization SPCJ cautioned against assuming Jewish-owned property was targeted because of religion. About 550,000 people demonstrated across France on Oct. 17, and the Interior Ministry reported about 2,400 arrests, Fox News reported.
