Los representantes Cloud y Clyde instan a Trump y Vance a investigar los 1.400 millones de páginas de registros de armas de empresas desaparecidas de la ATF
Los representantes Michael Cloud de Texas y Andrew Clyde de Georgia solicitaron al presidente Trump y al vicepresidente Vance, en una carta con fecha del 29 de septiembre, que ordenen una “investigación inmediata e independiente” de los registros de empresas que ya no operan de la Oficina de Alcohol, Tabaco, Armas de Fuego y Explosivos (ATF), los cuales la carta califica como “un registro nacional de armas ilegal que ahora contiene 1.414.088.513 registros de armas y propietarios de armas”. La carta también solicita la “destrucción rápida y verificable” de cualquier registro mantenido en violación de la Ley de Protección de Propietarios de Armas de Fuego de 1986 y de los límites de asignación de fondos, y que cualquier regla final de la ATF sobre la retención de registros cumpla con dichos límites. Cloud publicó la carta en X el martes; Gun Owners of America la publicó más temprano ese mismo día. La ATF informó a Cloud en junio que su recuento de 1.414.088.513 incluye imágenes escaneadas y páginas de papel, y que las imágenes no pueden buscarse por el nombre de un comprador.
