Trump unveils plan to rebuild DC's East Potomac golf course; judge orders government lawyers to explain at Monday hearing
Graphic: World Brief Now

President Trump said Sunday the Interior Department is working with architect Tom Fazio to overhaul East Potomac Golf Links into a public, championship-level course that could host the U.S. Open and Ryder Cup, with the course expected to close Nov. 15 and reopen about 15 months later, Fox News reported. Hours later, U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes took notice of the post and ordered the government to say by 8 p.m. Sunday whether it still stood by a filing two days earlier saying 'there is no final agency action,' and ordered two government attorneys to appear at an evidentiary hearing Monday morning. Reyes had recently temporarily halted further tree cutting at the site amid a legal challenge.
