Albania's anti-government protests turn violent for a sixth day; U.S. lawmakers urge restraint

Police and protesters clashed in Tirana for a sixth straight day Sunday as student-led crowds demanded Prime Minister Edi Rama resign over corruption allegations, and police said 388 people had been charged with criminal offenses, Fox News reported, citing Reuters. Reps. Joe Wilson, Robert Aderholt and Keith Self posted warnings urging the government to avoid violence against protesters, and the U.S. embassy urged peaceful protest. Rama blamed outside forces, saying young people had been radicalized under the influence of ANTIFA, while the European Commission condemned the arson and attacks on state institutions.
