Kenya confirms its first Ebola case; patient who flew in from Uganda has died

Kenya recorded its first confirmed Ebola case, a Kenyan citizen who had lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo and arrived in Nairobi on Saturday, and the patient has since died, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said, Reuters reported; 28 contacts, including family members and health workers, have been identified. Capital FM reported that the man traveled by road from Congo to Kampala, Uganda, then took Jambojet flight JM8523 to Nairobi, underwent routine screening at the airport, and was confirmed with the Bundibugyo strain; officials are also tracing 23 passengers and four crew from that flight. Congo is battling its largest-ever Ebola outbreak, with more than 8,000 cases and more than 4,000 deaths, according to Reuters.
