Trump in Ohio: don’t turn away data centers—or they’ll go to China

President Trump defended the rapid buildout of large data centers Saturday at a midterm rally outside Dayton, Ohio, warning that blocking the projects would hand an advantage to China—“There’s so much money to be made for Ohio. You can’t just turn them off. They’ll go to China,” the New York Post reported. Trump tied the boom to the U.S.–China race over what he called “superintelligence,” said America is beating China, and backed Sen. Jon Husted’s Ratepayer Protection Act to stop data centers from raising household electricity costs, vowing to sign it “within 24 hours” if Republicans win. He urged Ohio voters to “pretend that I’m on the ballot” for the Nov. 3 midterms.
