SpaceXAI rolls out a redesigned Grokipedia v0.3, and Musk reposts the news

SpaceXAI, the artificial intelligence arm of SpaceX that was formerly called xAI, released version 0.3 of Grokipedia, its AI-written online encyclopedia, on Wednesday afternoon. The official Grokipedia account on X posted “Introducing Grokipedia v0.3” at 4:44 p.m. CT, 46 seconds after tech commentator Sawyer Merritt wrote that “SpaceXAI has just released Grokipedia v0.3, which includes improved visuals.” Benji Taylor, head of design at X and SpaceXAI, called it “the newly refreshed Grokipedia.” Elon Musk reposted Merritt’s post without comment about 50 minutes later. As of 5:47 p.m. CT, SpaceXAI had not published release notes listing what changed beyond the new design.
What Changed
Grokipedia’s homepage now carries a “v0.3” label next to a large script wordmark, with the line “An open, comprehensive collection of all knowledge.” Below a search box, the page shows a featured article displayed as a book cover, a “Most read” shelf of book spines described as “What the world is reading, all time,” and a running tally of reader edits approved by Grok. When World Brief Now viewed the page at about 5:45 p.m. CT, the tally read more than 1.17 million approved edits.
A “Latest edits” section describes the process as “Proposed by readers, checked against sources, approved by Grok.” Article pages carry a “Fact-checked by Grok” note with the time of the last check.
Neither the Grokipedia account nor SpaceXAI listed specific changes. The phrase “improved visuals” is Merritt’s description; Taylor’s post said only that the site had been refreshed. In a second post, Taylor wrote, “Enjoyed working on this with @Diegopasini. More improvements will come.” A week earlier, on Sept. 23, Taylor wrote that he had “been using Grok Imagine to generate beautiful covers for the new Grokipedia.”
Who Posted What, and When

- Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), whose X profile describes him as a Tesla and SpaceX investor: “SpaceXAI has just released Grokipedia v0.3, which includes improved visuals.” with a link to grokipedia.com and a 22-second video of the site.

- Grokipedia (@Grokipedia), the account’s only post: “Introducing Grokipedia v0.3,” with a link to the site.
- 4:45 p.m. CT
- Benji Taylor (@benjitaylor), head of design at X and SpaceXAI: “Introducing the newly refreshed Grokipedia.”
- About 5:34 p.m. CT
- Elon Musk (@elonmusk) reposted Merritt’s post without adding a comment.
Musk’s Repost
Musk shared Merritt’s post as a plain repost, with no words of his own. The repost appears on Musk’s X profile under “Elon Musk reposted,” and X’s list of accounts that reposted Merritt’s post includes Musk’s account. When Grokipedia launched in October 2025 under his company xAI, Musk called that first release version 0.1 and wrote, “Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.”
Why “SpaceXAI”
SpaceXAI is the company’s official name, not Merritt’s shorthand. SpaceX announced on Feb. 2 that it had acquired xAI. On May 6, Musk wrote that “xAI will be dissolved as a separate company, so it will just be SpaceXAI, the AI products from SpaceX.” The company’s X account announced “We are now @SpaceXAI” on July 6, and its website, x.ai, now uses the SpaceXAI name. The old @xai account’s profile reads “Now at @SpaceXAI.”
Background
Grokipedia went live on Oct. 27, 2025, as an AI-powered rival to Wikipedia, the Associated Press and CNBC reported; CNBC noted it was named after the company’s Grok model. A version labeled 0.2 followed in November 2025, The Verge reported.
In August, Lawfare reported that Grokipedia had stopped reviewing reader edits in April without telling users. On Tuesday, The Verge reported that the site appeared to be updating articles again after a months-long pause, and that it accepted an edit the reporter suggested. On Sept. 22, Taylor had posted: “We haven’t forgotten about Grokipedia. v0.2 will be better than ever.”
