North Korea fires about a dozen short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea off its east coast

North Korea fired about a dozen short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea at around 12:30 p.m. local time Thursday, and they flew about 250 kilometers, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said, according to Yonhap. A South Korean military official said the launch is believed to have involved the KN-25 600-millimeter multiple rocket launcher, which Pyongyang claims can carry tactical nuclear warheads; Seoul's presidential office said the tests directly violate U.N. Security Council resolutions.
