The U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday called for an end to the U.S. embargo on Cuba for the 34th time, passing the resolution 130 to 17 with 25 abstentions, down from 165 to 7 with 12 abstentions last year, UN News reported. Ambassador Mike Waltz told delegates "there is no blockade," citing more than $876 million in U.S. exports to the island in the first eight months of 2026, and called a no vote the only thing standing between "the communist kleptocratic regime and another propagandistic victory." The resolution is not binding.
